Autism appears to be continuing to be on the rise in the United States and all over the world. The need for mental health resources is important for this population for many reasons. These reasons include Gender Dysphoria, higher risk of suicide, problems in the academic setting, comorbidity of anxiety and AD/HD, and difficulties with relationships with others.
The purpose of this training is to help you understand the importance of rapport with this population and how to use this knowledge to enhance the therapeutic relationship and guide treatment.
By the end of the training you should be familiar with what Autism Spectrum Disorder looks like, how you can build relationship skills based on what you know about the patient and how you can use these strategies in treatment to promote more success.
